Consultation description
The modern workplaces consultation sought views on four key areas:
- introducing a new system of flexible parental leave which will allow mothers and fathers to share leave, and give parents and employers greater choice about how leave is taken
- how to extend the right to flexible working to all employees
- updating the Working Time Regulations to reflect European judgments
- introducing further measures to promote equal pay
This response from the Government Equalities Office focuses on the equal pay aspect of the consultation and outlines the government’s proposal to require employers who lose an Employment Tribunal case on equal pay to carry out a pay audit.
Responses to the flexible working, flexible parental leave, and working time elements of the consultation will be published in due course.
