See the outcome to the second consultation on the revised draft Airports National Policy Statement that ran between 24 October and 19 December 2017.

The revised draft Airports National Policy Statement incorporates changes since this consultation, including:

• updated noise analysis
• a new air quality plan
• government policy changes
• consideration to date of the responses to this first consultation

The independent consultation adviser, Sir Jeremy Sullivan, has produced a report on the February 2017 consultation process.

Consultation description

The government believes that the need for additional capacity in the south-east of England is best met by a new north-west runway at Heathrow Airport.

The planning policy framework which the applicant for a north-west runway at Heathrow Airport would have to comply with in order to get development consent is set out in the draft Airports National Policy Statement.

We are seeking your views on the draft Airports National Policy Statement.
