This consultation forms part of a light touch review of the 6 guidance documents underpinning the Planning Act 2008, which includes guidance for examining planning applications as well as on:
The examinations guidance has been refreshed to bring it into line with the Localism Act 2011 and has been made more concise in the process. It clarifies some of the examination procedure rules. For example, there are now sections detailing what the preliminary meeting is for and what are specific issue hearings, as feedback suggested that users were not clear on these (rule 7 and rule 13). The guidance also addresses the process for making changes to a Development Consent Order post submission.
