Consultation description

The Department’s consultation document Future Offshore, issued in November 2002, provided an outline of the Government’s plan to lease sites for wind farm development in the North West, Greater Wash, and Thames Estuary strategic areas.

The document also stated that the second round of site leases for offshore wind farms would be informed by Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).

The SEA Environmental Report was published on 1 May 2003 along with a consultation on the Environmental Report and the Government’s plan for wind farm development in the three strategic areas.
