Remembrance Day Service programme

On 11 November 2016 the British Embassy in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada arranged a Remembrance Day Service at St Henry’s Cathedral to remember and honour the fallen and those involved in all combat and peacekeeping operations.

This year’s service was of significant importance as it marked the centenary of the Battle of the Somme in which more than one million people were killed or wounded.

During the service representatives of Embassies and veterans laid wreaths, and a two minutes’ silence observed to mark the moment - at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month - when the First World War Armistice was signed 98 years ago.

The Embassy would like to thank Reverend Tuomas Mäkipää and all who took part in the service for their support.
