New BBC Charter and framework agreement published

The Government has today (Thursday 15 December 2016) published the new BBC Charter and framework agreement. This is the culmination of a year long process aimed at helping the BBC adapt to the changing digital world and making sure it continues to thrive, deliver for audiences, and act as an engine of creativity and growth for the UK.

Culture Secretary Karen Bradley said:

The new Charter will make sure that the BBC continues to deliver world-class content and services over the next 11 years, and allow it to adapt to the changing digital world.

The new Charter will come into effect on 1 January 2017.
