The Prime Minister's Official Spokesperson answered questions about PM's phone call with President of Iran, Alps plane crash and Speaker vote.

Iran

The Prime Minister’s Official Spokesperson (PMOS) said the Prime Minister (PM) spoke to President Rouhani of Iran this afternoon. Read out of the call with President Rouhani of Iran

Alps air crash

When asked whether the PM had asked for a review of cockpit safety following the Alps air crash, the PMOS said the situation was being followed closely and that the PM was being kept updated. She also added that the Air Accident Investigation Branch were sending an investigator to join the French led investigation.

Speaker vote

When asked about the vote in Parliament on the selection of the Speaker of the House, the PMOS said the vote came following proposals to implement recommendations made by the House Procedure Committee, which would have brought in a consistent approach to appointments to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker roles.
