Competition Service

The Competition Service (CS) hears appeals on rulings by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and the regulators of the telecommunications, electricity, gas, water, railways and air traffic services. It also reviews decisions made by the Secretary of State, the CMA and its predecessor organisations (the OFT and the Competition Commission) on merger and market references. The government proposes to close, merge or reform this body as part of the Public Bodies Reform Programme.

CS is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Department for Business and Trade.
