Gillian Smith
Biography
Gillian Smith joined the Independent Living Fund as the Head of Human Resources in December 2010.
Gillian’s career has mainly been with the Civil Service, having joined the Department for Health and Social Security in 1980. Her previous roles include:
- manager at artificial limb and appliance centres in Sheffield and Leeds
- aide to the HR Director at the Benefits Agency
- Head of Employee Relations at the Driving Standards Agency
Head of Human Resources
The Head of Human Resources is responsible for:
- developing and leading the HR strategy within the Independent Living Fund, which includes employment policy, employee relations, learning and development and recruitment
- ensuring that HR policies are legally compliant
- providing professional HR guidance and support to trustees and senior management
