The Rt Hon Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP

Biography

Sir John Whittingdale was appointed Minister of State jointly in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology from May 2023 to December 2023 while Julia Lopez was on maternity leave.

He was previously appointed a Minister of State for Media and Data in the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from February 2020 to September 2021.

He previously served as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport from May 2015 to July 2016. He was elected Conservative MP for Maldon in 1992.
