Apply for proof that you do not have British citizenship (form NQ) (accessible)

To be used by people in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and British overseas territories, and by people who live elsewhere and want to apply by post.

The Home Office will use the personal information you provide to consider your application. We may also share your information with other public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas. Part 1

If you are a foreign or Commonwealth citizen resident in the United Kingdom, and require confirmation for the authorities of your home country that you have not become a British citizen, you should apply using this form. Send all parts of this form together with the payment slip from the fees leaflet.

You should allow 10 working days for confirmation. You are advised to pay by debit or credit card or postal order, as payment by cheque will increase the processing time to 20 working days. Fees will not be refunded.

Your personal details must be written correctly on parts 2 and 3 of the form. Any alterations on the form will make it invalid. We will keep part 2 as a record of the search of the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) records. Part 3 will be forwarded to the address given. If you want this copy to be sent to your embassy you must include the reference number for your passport application.

If you wish the reply to be sent by recorded or special delivery you must send a pre-paid envelope.

UKVI do not retain records of grants of citizenship prior to October 1986. This document is only valid for 3 months from the date of issue.
