Details

Course aim

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • describe the evolution of the BowTie methodology and key components
  • successfully navigate the basic functions of BowTie XP
  • build a structured and functional BowTie diagram to communicate risk to the right audience
  • exploit BowTie XP functions to manage risk reduction barriers

Training will be instructional to ensure exposure and familiarity with software capabilities and functions across the training period. Instruction follows the EDIP model (explanation, demonstration, imitation and practice) which has proven effective in learning complex software applications.

Facilitation will be employed during the methodology, organisational application and BowTie development modules to enable contextual learning, develop understanding of best practices and gather delegate feedback on specific applications of software in their domains.

Facilitation may introduce potential consultancy support available to organisations seeking to implement the software and methodology or evolve their existing application of the software into a fully-fledged safety management system (SMS).

The course modules build delegate competence from basic to more advanced techniques.

Delegates are informally assessed on their final BowTie product that will evolve over the training period. Achievement of learning outcomes is reinforced during the confirmatory exercise on day 3 of the programme.

Units and duty holder organisations can directly purchase this and other SMS training courses. Please visit the the safety training for error prevention (STEP) page for page for further information.
