The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) commissioned an independent review into its approach to promoting gender equality in the Newton Fund and GCRF. This report presents the findings and recommendations from that review.

It provides a comprehensive assessment of the processes BEIS and its delivery partners currently use to promote gender equality when allocating funding for research and innovation for development. It assesses best practice from 5 other comparable overseas development assistance funds to provide independent recommendations for BEIS to improve its approach in future allocations of funding.
