This page covers responses to competition clarification questions received for Stream 2 of AI for Decarbonisation Innovation Programme.

Is using AI to optimise the performance of carbon capture technology would be eligible for this programme? While this meets the overall objective of helping industry to decarbonize set out in Lot 2, it neither improves energy efficiency or enable fuel switching per se, so wasn’t clear if this would be eligible? (Added 1 December 2022)

Using AI to optimize the performance of carbon capture technology is not eligible for Lot 2 of Stream 2. There are many ways to decarbonise the industry, but in this competition, we are only seeking projects that decarbonise the industry by improving productivity, energy efficiency or enabling fuel switching.

The guidance states the Higher Education Institutions should use the HEI specific sheets for their Labour and overhead costs, but there is no separate tab or anything in the spreadsheet for this information within the Project Cost Breakdown document. Can you please advise? (added 4 January 2023)

The Project Cost Breakdown Excel template has now been updated to include HEI specific sheets (see tab K and L).
