Details
The Balai Directive (Article 4 of Council Directive 92/65/EEC) sets out the conditions for the import and export, between European Union member states, of various species of animals which are not covered by other legislation. It does not apply to domestic animals such as cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, horses, poultry and pets.
The Balai Directive states that animals covered by this legislation can only be exported from premises which are either registered or approved by the authorities in the exporting country. This form must be completed to register a premises.
Form EC3164 must be completed to apply for approval of a premises. This usually applies to a small number of specalist premises such as zoos and research institutes.
