This new ‘Captains of Industry’ research shows what action the UK’s leading companies are taking on cyber security. The survey involved chairs, CEOs and directors among Britain’s top companies sharing their views on cyber security. The topics covered include how company boards engage with cyber risk, what governance and processes firms have in place to improve cyber security, and what action they are taking to ensure cyber security in their supply chains.
The research was conducted by Ipsos MORI and comprises 107 interviews with participants including Chairs, Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors/Chief Operating Officers, Financial Directors and other executive board directors. Companies included are from the top 500 industrials in the UK by turnover; and top 100 financial companies by capital employed. Fieldwork took place between May and August 2021.
The research is part of a bigger ‘Captains of Industry’ study carried out by Ipsos MORI. In both the 2020 and 2021 surveys, DCMS commissioned Ipsos MORI to include a small number of questions relating to cyber resilience and the experiences and expertise of boards dealing with cyber security issues in these organisations.
This research is being published alongside the government response to a call for views on supply chain cyber security. You can read more in the news story here:
New plans to boost cyber security of UK’s digital supply chains
