Details

Field name: Ravenspurn North

Estimated total CO2 storage capacity (tonnes): 93,000,000

Potential capacity identified in CCR reports (tonnes): 72,000,000

Potential user: Knottingley CCGT

“Remaining” CO2 storage capacity (tonnes): 21,000,000

An applicant’s choice of storage area at the CCR stage is not binding. It therefore follows that an applicant’s choice of storage area at the CCR stage does not confer priority on that applicant for use of that storage area when CCS is deployed on their power station. Operators will be required to obtain a permit from BEIS and a lease from the Crown Estate in order to store CO2 offshore when CCS is operational.
