This guidance aims to provide public health guidance to clinicians, microbiologists, epidemiologists and public health authorities concerning the management of ceftriaxone-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

This includes a summary of the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance in N. gonorrhoeae in England in the period following the publication of the 2013 Gonococcal Resistance to Antimicrobials Surveillance Programme (GRASP) Action Plan and provides guidance for responding to an incident of ceftriaxone-resistant Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
