Charity Commission Revised Regulatory Statement

Details

The commission’s mission is to be an effective registrar and regulator of charities in England and Wales.

The commission considers that it can best fulfil its objectives under the Charities Act by:

  • concentrating on promoting compliance by charity trustees with their legal obligations
  • enhancing the rigour with which it holds charities accountable
  • ensuring that it upholds the definition of charity under charity law

This statement sets out how the commission will do this. It also outlines the commission’s values of expertise, fairness, openness, clarity and speed, and accountability.
