Details

The short survey and supporting guidance are made available for providers to complete on RSH’s online data collection portal NROSH+. These include all private registered providers with 1,000 or more properties, local authorities, and some smaller private registered providers with over 500 properties and/or a high proportion of care and support activity.

The survey asks providers to answer a single multiple-choice question on each of five key areas: emergency repairs; statutory gas safety checks; statutory fire safety checks; asbestos, electrical, legionella and lift checks; and care and support staffing levels. For each area it also asked them to identify any key constraints, risks and mitigating actions and the scale of any backlog.

RSH is running the survey monthly for as long as is necessary and will keep the frequency under review. It uses the information from the survey to help identify where there may be challenges that the sector or individual providers need regulatory support to meet.

  • The first round of the survey was from 17 to 24 April 2020.
  • The second round was from 15 to 22 May.
  • The third round was from 19 to 26 June.
  • The fourth round was from 17 to 24 July.
  • The fifth round was from 31 August to 7 September.
  • The sixth round was from 30 September to 7 October.
  • The seventh round was from from 31 October to 6 November.
  • The eighth round was from 30 November to 7 December.
  • The ninth round will be from 31 January 2021 to 5 February 2021.
  • The 10th and final round was from 31 March to 9 April 2021.

If providers believe tenant safety is threatened or viability is under strain, they should not wait for the survey but should speak to their key contact at RSH or its Referrals and Regulatory Enquiries team, via enquiries@rsh.gov.uk or 0300 124 5225. Providers with fewer than 1,000 homes should use the dedicated email address SmallProviders@rsh.gov.uk.
