Crab and lobster fisheries management plan (FMP) for English waters

The crab and lobster FMP describes how we will achieve the long-term sustainable management of these fisheries in English waters.

Details

The crab and lobster fisheries management plan (FMP) covers stocks in English waters only.

Defra prepared the crab and lobster FMP in partnership with the Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish). Seafish worked with the Crab and Lobster Management Group, a collaborative forum that brings together industry, academia, government regulators and policy makers.

The crab and lobster FMP has been prepared and published to meet the requirements set out in the Fisheries Act 2020.

Status

A public consultation to seek views on the draft plan closed on 1 October 2023. View the consultation and the government response at Crab and lobster: proposed fisheries management plan consultation.

The final FMP was published in December 2023.
