Cyber-Physical Infrastructure Ecosystem Building: grant funding competition winner published.
A cyber-physical infrastructure will bring together technologies like digital twins, robotics, artificial intelligence and the internet of things into an ecosystem of networked cyber-physical systems. This ‘infrastructure’ will underpin faster and cheaper innovation across a range of sectors, from future energy system to transport and manufacturing, by providing the tools and frameworks for innovators to design, test, build and connect more easily.
To help the UK realise the opportunity of cyber-physical infrastructure and build an innovative, resilient and inclusive ecosystem, we are launching a grant funding competition for an organisation or consortium to deliver an ecosystem development capability. This will bring together stakeholders from industry, alongside academia and the public sector to collaborate, coordinate, and share knowledge and insights.
Government is awarding up to £200,000 grant funding (up to £100,000 for each of financial year (FY) 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 and inclusive of irreclaimable VAT) through competition for an organisation or consortium to deliver an ecosystem building capability to advance the cyber-physical infrastructure agenda and stimulate a UK cyber-physical infrastructure ecosystem.
The ecosystem capability will support the following outcomes:
- UK stakeholders will have a significantly greater awareness of the CPI agenda and understanding of the benefits of CPI to them and their stakeholders
- the UK will have a diverse cyber-physical ecosystem and organisations will have increased connections, coordination and collaboration between themselves bringing together individual organisations’ and sector collaborations’ capabilities and initiatives
- there will be useful and well utilised resources that accelerate investment in and development and adoption of cyber-physical systems - such as frameworks, best practice guides, use cases and business cases
