Details

This areas of research interest (ARI) document aims to improve how government departments:

  • align scientific and research evidence from academia with policy development and decision-making
  • access a wide range of suppliers
  • engage with researchers
  • access stronger policy evidence bases at better value for money share research commissions

The ARI document highlights evidence and knowledge needs, either in terms of knowledge gaps or areas where DSIT is keen to gain a stronger set of evidence, particularly in more complex spaces. Each policy team within DSIT has drafted a section to communicate, to other government departments and external experts and researchers, where this evidence is needed. DSIT hopes from reading this document that researchers with relevant expertise connect with the department and become part of its networks and work with the department to build on its existing evidence base.
