DPTAC programme of work 2023 to 2025

Indicative work programme – high-level summary
The Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee (DPTAC) work programme is iterative as DPTAC also responds to urgent or otherwise previously unforeseen departmental requests.
For the period of 2023 to 2025 DPTAC intends to provide accessibility advice to the Department for Transport (DfT) ministers related to:
- the rail reform programme, the creation of Great British Railways, the development of the National Rail Accessibility Strategy and the delivery of Accessibility Audit Phase 2 project
- rail staffing and station accessibility
- rolling stock accessibility including mainline, HS2 and tram/subway systems
- accessible air travel
- accessible maritime travel, including the maritime passenger accessibility surveys
- the review of the Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations 2000
- taxi and private hire vehicle accessibility
- driving, including Motability and Blue Badges
- micro-mobility, including e-scooters
- the built environment

DPTAC Main Committee
The DPTAC Main Committee manages and coordinates the work of DPTAC and its working groups.

DPTAC working groups
DPTAC working groups provide advice to the department on policy in development.
There are 4 transport mode-specific working groups. These provide accessibility advice to DfT ministers related to policy and operational aspects of:
- aviation and maritime
- local transport, including buses, coaches, taxis and private hire vehicles
- personal mobility, including parking and Blue Badges, active travel, electric vehicles and scooters, and the built environment
- rail
In addition, DPTAC has a working group that considers evidence and research.
DPTAC intends to create new working groups to look at autonomous vehicles and emerging technologies, and communications.
