Dredging and the removal of silt and sand from main rivers is regulated under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010.

This note sets out what you must do when dredging on main rivers. Individuals, businesses and public bodies must meet the requirements to comply with the regulations. This will ensure you maintain your watercourses in an environmentally sensitive way.
