How to apply for Inclusive Transport Leader accreditation

Inclusive Transport Leader
There are 3 levels of accreditation in the Inclusive Transport Leaders Scheme:
- Inclusive Transport Committed
- Inclusive Transport Operator
- Inclusive Transport Leader
Each of these accreditation levels represents a step on the journey to becoming a leader in inclusive travel.
Inclusive Transport Leader accreditations last for 3 years. At the end of this 3 year period, you must reapply for accreditation.

Inclusive Transport Leader criteria
To become an Inclusive Transport Leader, you must demonstrate that you have led the way, and can continue to lead the way, in making transport more accessible to disabled people.
You will do this by fulfilling the criteria listed below.
Fulfil all Inclusive Transport Committed criteria and Inclusive Transport Operator criteria
To be recognised as an Inclusive Transport Leader, you must have fulfilled all criteria associated with the Inclusive Transport Committed and Inclusive Transport Operator accreditations.

Leadership in inclusive travel
You must be able to demonstrate that you have shown leadership in inclusive travel (relative to the size and scale of your service provision) in the last 2 years. This could include:
- having shared good accessibility practice with other operators, including operators in other modes of transport
- having collaborated with other operators or local authorities in shared inclusivity projects
You must also pledge to continue to demonstrate leadership in inclusive travel (relative to the size and scale of your service provision) over the next 3 years. This means committing to:
- maintaining and improving on the high standards of accessibility you have achieved
- helping to establish a forum for the exchange of good practice in accessibility across the transport sector, especially between operators in different modes of transport
- acting as public-facing ambassador for inclusive travel
- validating applications of operators applying for Inclusive Transport Leader accreditation
What happens next
Once you’ve read this guidance, you can apply for Inclusive Transport Leader accreditation.
On your application form, you will be asked to supply evidence demonstrating your fulfilment of the above criteria.
Once you have submitted your form, we will review your application and notify you of the outcome within the timeframe stated.
