This divisional letter informs building control bodies about the provisions in the Statutory Instruments Energy Performance of Building Regulations (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/647) and (Amendment No. 2) Regulations (S.I. 2008/2363) which were made respectively on 6 March and 4 September 2008. S.I. 2008/647 came into force on 6 April 2008 and S.I. 2008/2363 will come into force on 1 October 2008, subject to the transitional provisions.

The purpose of this letter is to draw attention to the amendment regulations and the changes they make to the:

  • Building Regulations 2000
  • Building (Approved Inspectors etc) Regulations 2000
  • Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007
  • Home Information Pack (No. 2) Regulations 2007.
