Details

The JCP SfS programme helps schools deliver their statutory duty to provide independent and impartial careers advice to young people aged 12 to 18. It is aimed at those who:

  • are at risk of becoming not in employment, education or training (NEET)
  • may face a disadvantage in the labour market, for example due to their ethnicity or a disability

The programme was trailed in 10 pathfinder areas before being rolled out nationally across England. This research was commissioned to understand:

  • what the demand is for the programme
  • whether the programme’s offer is appropriate
  • how the programme fits into the already crowded field of careers guidance
  • whether marketing is necessary
  • whether the programme is seen as adding value
