The overall purpose of the evaluation is to:
- provide a brief historical account of the development cooperation between Vietnam and the UK since 1999
- examine the evidence of DFID’s contribution to poverty reduction in Vietnam in the context of DFID assistance and broader development efforts in the country
- identify lessons learnt from this cooperation for the Government of Vietnam in light of the development challenges it will be likely to face after 2016, for other donors still operating in Vietnam after DFID’s exit and for DFID operations in other partner countries to improve development effectiveness
