Details

NHS and local authorities are being asked to promote important flu messages to all frontline staff across providers of acute, community and social care services.

The messages include:

  • as part of the duty of care to patients or residents, staff should do everything in their power to protect them against infection
  • the impact of flu on frail and vulnerable patients, in communities, care homes and hospitals, can be fatal
  • getting vaccinated against flu can help protect staff and their family
  • even if a person is asymptomatic, they can still pass flu on to patients
