The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (the department) received the following request for information which we responded to under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA):

On 19 September the AI Safety Institute announced an AI Safety conference to be held in San Francisco on 21 to 22 November by invitation only. Please publish:

  1. The criteria by which invitees were selected.

  2. The extent to which public funds will be used to support invitees travel and associated expenses.

  3. The budget allocated for AISI and participants’ involvement in this event.

  4. The names of those invited and/or the organisations they will represent.

  5. The arrangements for those not already invited to request the opportunity to participate and/or to make submissions.
