Defra is currently reviewing the UK government’s Timber Procurement Policy. Updates to the policy are expected to be published in summer 2025. 

Public procurers can use this guide to find out:

• how to gather the Category B evidence needed to confirm which forest(s) the product originates from
• to help demonstrate compliance with the criteria set out in the UK government’s Timber Procurement Policy Definition of Legal and Sustainable
