Fowey Harbour Revision Order HRO/2019/00005
On 23 September 2019 the Fowey Harbour Commissioners made a formal application to the Marine management Organisation (MMO) under section 14 of the Harbours Act 1964 for the Fowey Harbour Revision Order 2021 (“the Order”).
The Order provides clarity regarding the harbour limits to include port premises and grants the council modern powers of direction. The Order also includes provisions for the licensing of boatmen and vessels and updates the constitution of the commissioners. Finally, the Order amends and revokes local legislation. Full details of these powers can be viewed in the Order and the rationale behind the powers can be viewed in the accompanying statement in support.
The MMO approved the making of the Order on 9 February 2021, details of the decision-making process can be viewed in the Fowey Harbour Revision Order 2021 decision document. The Order will be laid before parliament on 16 February 2021 and will come into force on 11 March 2021.
