Scheme completion deadline March 2025

The scheme is now closed to new applications. Ongoing projects must be completed by March 2025.

If unforeseen delays mean that your scheme will not be completed by March 2025, we will consider an extension on a case-by-case basis.

The On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme provides local authorities with funding to help with the costs of procurement and installation of local public electric vehicle charge points for residential use.

The guidance advises local authorities about:

  • the support available for ongoing ORCS projects
  • usage data requirements
  • contacts for support

  1. Information about the March 2025 scheme completion deadline.

  2. Updated to say that scheme is closed to new applications.

  3. Change to the scheme funding amount and funding eligibility for charging infrastructure for car clubs added.

  4. Removed LEVI pilot information as it is now closed and updated the scheme budget.

  5. The scheme funding amount has changed to a maximum of 60% of project capital costs. Guidance added on the minimum payment method requirement and changes that mean chargepoints may be installed on land not owned by a local authority on a discretionary basis.

  6. Addition of fire safety guidance.

  7. Updated guidance increasing funding per chargepoint unit to £13,000, removing project size requirements, clarifying expectations regarding installations in local authority-owned car parks, and stating that projects with a completion date no later than 31 March 2023 will be considered.

  8. Changes to the grant payment process.

  9. Guidance has been revised to include changes to the grant cap per chargepoint, and our approach to allocating funding.

  10. Updated to provide clearer guidance to local authorities on eligibility when applying for funding.
