Since the Human Animal Infections and Risk Surveillance (HAIRS) group was established in early 2004, there has been a steady evolution and development of the risk assessment processes used by the group.

This information summarises the multi-step processes used in the group’s assessment of new and emerging threats of potential significance to the health of the UK public.
