In December 2022 we announced that £654 million will be provided to councils in England between 2023 and 2025 through the Homelessness Prevention Grant, to support them to deliver services to prevent and tackle homelessness.
This maintained the significant investment of £315.8 million provided through the Homelessness Prevention Grant in 2022 to 2023. It includes an additional £24 million to cover the cost of new burdens associated with the expansion of priority need to those forced into homelessness by domestic abuse, following the landmark Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
In June 2023 we announced that councils will receive a top up of £109 million in 2023 to 2024 to help Ukrainians into settled accommodation and prevent homelessness more widely.
In February 2024 we announced that councils will receive a further £109 million top up to their Homelessness Prevention Grant funding in 2024 to 2025 to help councils address homelessness pressures and support Ukrainians into settled accommodation.
