Response to the independent review of FCDO funded scholarship schemes

Details

The paper responds to the high-level recommendations of the independent Public Body Review of Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) funded scholarships. The review examined the:

  • Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC)
  • Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission (MACC)
  • FCDO’s Chevening programme

The review set out clear and comprehensive recommendations to make the 3 programmes more efficient, effective and accountable, and more aligned with each other.

The government accepts all the review’s recommendations, noting that some need additional budget. The government will explore new funding options in the next Spending Review. The government also accepts that further collaborative work with the arm’s length bodies and Chevening will be needed before all the recommendations can be implemented.
