This PSI is obsolete and has been cancelled. It was issued in 2011 to aid the implementation of the new digital radio network. This network has been fully implemented across the estate and any information regarding this is issued through internal communications.

This prison service instruction (PSI) provides information for prisons around the introduction of a digital radio communications system.

It explains how prisons should:

  • replace existing equipment
  • train staff to use the new equipment
  • maintain the new equipment

This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 10 November 2011.
