International qualified teacher status

Policy papers and supporting documents for current and prospective providers of international qualified teacher status.

International qualified teacher status (iQTS) is a new, UK government-backed international teaching qualification. It will be recognised as equivalent to English qualified teacher status (QTS) by the Department for Education (DfE). Accredited English initial teacher training providers will deliver it to trainees all over the world.

DfE launched a pilot of the iQTS scheme in 2022 and is now preparing to launch iQTS more widely from 2023. These updated documents include information for those who wish to apply for the wider rollout.
