The role of the Knowledge Asset Network (KAN)
The KAN is a community for those who work with or who want to learn more about Knowledge Assets (KAs) in central government, arm’s length bodies or Public Sector Research Establishments.
The KAN provides a space for members to share advice, best practice, challenges, insights and to learn from one another about Knowledge Asset management.
Building a strong network provides members with opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing and also helps them stay updated with the latest trends and breakthroughs in this rapidly advancing area within government.
Who the KAN is for
You might be interested in joining this network if your work involves creating impact, innovation and solutions using science, data or technology.
You don’t have to have prior knowledge or experience of Knowledge Assets to join.
Professionals working in UK government public sector organisations with an Accounting Officer responsible for upholding Managing Public Money (MPM) are welcome to join the KAN.
This includes:
- UK central government departments
- arm’s-length bodies
- Public Sector Research Establishments (PSREs)
KAN membership offer
Knowledge Hub
Network members will be invited to join a private group on Knowledge Hub called the ‘Knowledge Asset Community’. The group provides a space where network members can exchange knowledge, experiences, and build connections across the public sector. The group hosts useful resources such as meeting minutes and presentations from previous KA Network meetings, and provides updates on the latest guidance, news, and events around the Knowledge Asset agenda.
Quarterly meetings
Quarterly meetings
Virtual meetings take place every quarter where members :
- share their experiences of working with KAs and showcase their work
- connect and network with colleagues across the public sector
- take part in discussions about challenges and opportunities in KA management
The Register of Expertise
Members of the KAN can opt-in to the Register of Expertise. This register collates individual member’s areas of knowledge, skill or interest and allows members to search by expertise so they can contact one another to seek advice and guidance. You’ll need a public sector email address to join.
Coffee roulette
Members can opt-in to be paired with a different member every month for virtual coffee roulette.
This is an informal opportunity to network, share experiences and develop connections on a one-to-one basis. Please note that allocation is random.
