Analysis of data from voluntary reports of bacteraemia in the paediatric population (including trend data and antimicrobial susceptibility by age group) for England.

Note (February 2025): The term “bloodstream infections” was used in earlier reports on this page, however, as the reports are based on microbiological laboratory results, from 2025 the term “bacteraemia” is used instead.

Note (November 2024): Corrigendum: An updated version of ‘Laboratory surveillance of paediatric bacterial bloodstream infections and antimicrobial resistance in England: 2018 to 2022’ was published in HPR 18(10), November 2024.”

1. 27 February 2025

   HPR 19(2) annual report, presenting data for 2019 to 2023 was added, with associated data tables file.

2. 18 November 2024

   Published corrected version of 'Laboratory surveillance of paediatric BSI and antimicrobial resistance (England) 2018 to 2022'.

3. 14 November 2024

   Removed 'Laboratory surveillance of paediatric bloodstream infections and antimicrobial resistance in England: 2018 to 2022' as it contained incorrect data.

   Added corrected version 2 of the report 'Laboratory surveillance of paediatric BSI and AMR in England: 2018 to 2022' and its associated data tables file.
