These reports document the findings from a study that involved a survey of 2,500 English small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with between 5 and 250 employees, across all sectors of the economy.

The survey was conducted in 2014. It examined the associations between leadership and management skills and the implementation of management best practices and how these factors are related to business performance and employment growth.

The technical report provides details of how the research was conducted.
