Details

The National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) is a digital map of underground pipes and cables in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This project update highlights the significant milestones made by the NUAR programme since the last project update in November 2023, including:

  • expanding coverage of the minimum viable product (MVP) to include Northern Ireland
  • tabling measures in the Data (Use and Access) Bill, which would allow NUAR to operate as a statutory register
  • announcing Ordnance Survey as the future operator of NUAR and transitioning of services to them
  • announcing the intent to move to ‘public beta’ by spring 2025
  • holding a discovery project to understand the opportunities and constraints around increasing access to NUAR

The programme remains on track to be fully operational by the end of 2025.
