Details

This prison service instruction (PSI) sets out the circumstances where open conditions and release on temporary licence (ROTL) can be considered for prisoners who may be deported.

It covers:

  • prisoners in closed conditions who have a deportation order
  • prisoners in closed conditions who may be deported
  • prisoners already in open conditions

It includes guidance for risk assessments, categorisation, working with the Home Office and record keeping.

This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 14 August 2014.
