Details

This policy for authorisation of Official Veterinarians (OVs) sets out the working relationship between the Agency which acts on behalf of the relevant ministers in England, Scotland and Wales, and OVs who seek to carry out tasks on behalf of those ministers and who are not employees of the government.

Before anyone becomes authorised as an OV they must read this document, and then refer to it while authorised.

It contains information about:

  • the processes for OV training and authorisation
  • revalidation requirements for the Official Controls Qualification (OCQ) veterinary (V) qualifications
  • the supervision of Approved Tuberculin Testers (ATTs)
  • the standards to which OVs must perform their tasks
  • assessment and quality assurance
  • revocation or suspension of authorisation
  • the complaints investigation and appeals processes for OVs carrying out tuberculosis (TB) testing
  • cessation of appointments
