The taskforce will investigate a reported rise in pet theft. It will gather evidence from organisations and experts to understand any rise and make recommendations to tackle the problem.

The taskforce will be comprised of government officials from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Home Office and Ministry of Justice along with operational partners.

The terms of reference outlines how the taskforce will work.
