Decision of the Charity Commission published on 19 December 2012.

The commission gave consent to The Prayer Book Society, a registered charity, to allow it to change its objects if its members voted to do so. The trustees wanted to simplify the charity’s objects rather than amend them to include proposed new activities closely related to its existing activities.

A member of the charity objected to the commission’s action because the charity would no longer have to promote a particular form of religious service. The commission concluded that the consent to the change of objects is lawful, within the commission’s policy and did not affect the foundation of the charity.
