Study researching and attempting to make:

  • an estimated rail journeys per ticket figures regarding the frequency of travel by rail season tickets
  • make separate figures depending on the factors that affect their use including distance, flow type and ratio between anytime and season fare price

The research found that the average:

  • weekly journey per ticket is 8.5
  • journeys per ticket decreases with distance

This research will be used to update forecasting and uncertainty guidance in Transport Analysis Guidance.
