Details

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC) has reviewed the prescription for pneumoconiosis, including silicosis and asbestosis, (PD D1), which is covered by industrial injuries disablement benefit. The current prescription for PD D1 dates back in part over 100 years and has not undergone any major revision for almost 80 years. In that time the causes of the disease and the diagnostic techniques have changed substantially. IIAC anticipates the revised prescription will mean the prescription will be easier to navigate for both claimants and administrators.
