Paper prepared by SPI-B on the role of Community Champions networks to increase engagement in the context of COVID-19. It was considered at SAGE 63 on 22 October 2020. The paper is the assessment of the evidence at the time of writing.

This piece of work was commissioned to understand the evidence and best practice around working with community champions. It aims to inform ongoing community engagement work in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting our communities outreach, as well as our partnerships with Local Authorities and Directors of Public Health.

As new evidence or data emerges, SAGE updates its advice accordingly. These documents are released as pre-print publications that have provided the government with rapid evidence during an emergency. These documents have not been peer-reviewed and there is no restriction on authors submitting and publishing this evidence in peer-reviewed journals.
